Early Morning – April 21, 2016 – Is The Sun In Taurus?

Thursday, April 21, 2016  — // +5˚C / 41˚F @ 8:19 am on a bright sunny morning with clear air and clear blue skies in Atlantic Canada —

Puffy purple clouds just before sunrise.

We had a few puffy clouds before sunrise, this was at 6:24 am Atlantic Time here.

Deer Hill before the deer arrived today.

This is a different shot of the ‘Deer Hill’. Taken while leaning just over the dog’s fence – with a bit of the house showing on the extreme right.

Several deer grazing on the 'DeerHill'.

Committee Breakfast – 7:25 am. The white deer reflected so much light I had to darken the exposure slightly using the limited tools available in the Preview App.

— There are bits of the white deer’s hair visible to the right of the three or four deer clustered near the center of the photo. I am hoping this wasn’t the result of a deer fight – They’ve had a few kicking sessions, fighting over who gets to eat first. The older deer seem to kick the young ones gently enough – as if they think of that as a ‘gentle reminder’. ‘Whitey’ gets chased away a lot – he or she seems not to be very high on their social scale. Sometimes ‘Whitey’ comes around with one other guy, who looks pretty scruffy – we wonder if these are the ‘outcastes’ or low deer on their totem pole.

— I measured the distance from the corner of the porch to the top of the hill there. At a point that’s just about the edge of the shaggy grass near the right edge of the mini ‘cliff’ in this photo – that point is 12 feet from the corner of the porch. The deer might be another three to six feet from that edge. Fifteen to eighteen feet from the window?

— Sigh. We’re still feeling the effects of knowing that my mother is adjusting to her life in ‘the next world’. Best reports from those I trust to know what that’s like ( I can’t remember, myself – ) report that it can take from a couple weeks to six months before new arrivals ‘on the other side’ go through their orientation and feel comfortable enough to try to get messages through to us over here. Latest explanations are along the lines of “First they relive every pain they ever felt, then they are helped to see and feel every pain they ever caused any other living being.” Um – I won’t be able to verify that for you until after I’ve been through it (again?) And then you’d probably have to be in the same world, same dimension I’ll be in if you’d want to be able to understand what I was trying to tell you. { Go play “The Seeker” by The Who. }

— Enough for today? — Hope I didn’t bring you down completely.

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 — Happy Anniversary to Cathi and Me —

Happy Birthday, Cousin Debi in Colorado — & Happy Anniversary Jim And Cathi in New Brunswick

House with shoveled walk to porch. Glowing Deer eyes to the right.

— I didn’t see the glowing green Deer Eyes in the dark (right side behind the porch) until I downloaded this photo from the cell phone camera this morning. I took this photo at 12:42 am. -jrw-

— Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 — //  -7˚C / +18˚F with brilliant Sunshine and very clear air over very white snow on the ground in Atlantic Canada @ 9:09 am —

Cathi getting into van.

Cathi getting ready to drive to work while sunlight touches the treetops behind her. 7:43 am

— The sunlight touching trees at sunrise has been really spectacular in the last couple weeks. The clean new snow might even add to the ‘clean’ look, and the clear fresh air might help give me the feeling that exciting things are happening below the surface of things.

Dog with glowing yellow-white eyes reflecting flash.

Jassper’s eyes were not glowing like this when I saw the photo through the cell’s window. I pushed the icon – Jassper looked up, the Orphan Annie headlights flashed on and – I suppose that could be scary —

— Jassper took me for a walk up and down the street after midnight this very early morning. Then he was a bit disappointed that he couldn’t help me shovel the ridge left by the over-night plow when I went out to clear the end of the driveway at 6:30 am. ( The photo in the dark at the top of this article was taken after our midnight walk. )

Shoveled driveway at 7:36 am.

— And this was the driveway at 7:36 am ( time stamped cell photo ) I took a couple photos straight on and thought this one, shot on an angle, was more interesting. —jrw—

— At midnight the snow pile at the left of this photo looked more like a mini Matterhorn – & I didn’t realize the pile on the right side of the photo here grew so high so quickly.

different angle at sunrise

& This is an angle I haven’t taken and/or posted here before – The south face of our house caught a bit of reflected sunrise and I caught that in a photo I was in the right place at the right time to shoot at 7:39 am this morning. —jrw—

— The bit of golden glow above the hills to the east and below the slightly darker than it shows up here sky didn’t quite come out the way it looked in ‘real life’.

Moe cuddling with Cathi's slippers.

— & I couldn’t post anything here without including Moe. I may have hinted that he often hugs Cathi’s boots, shoes and slippers as he rests on the porch, but here you can see that for yourself. He’s also taken to trying to cuddle up with the fire wood we bring inside the porch to dry bits of snow and ice and have them handy for burning in the wood stove in the evenings.

— I should also tell you the wind picked up this morning after Cathi went to work, so when the dog went out to pee before his breakfast, which he is quick to remind me every day, should be at 10:00 am sharp – he came back in completely speckled with bits of ice and snow all over his head and back. And, boy, did he look daffy. I think he knew that – and capitalized on the sympathy he thought he might be able to garner from that. — & he does enjoy getting rubbed with a towel.

— And maybe I should mention some of the wild dreams I had that kind of go along with “11-22-63” the television series, where I was contemplating re-setting bits of altered time lines. & Before I fell asleep, I was surprised to visualize very bright light beaming down from the Eastern night sky and lighting up brilliant white light ‘domes’ – kind of geodesic domes that illuminated spots inside my body, like where my spine aches a lot – where, for instance, my T-4 vertebrae is slightly twisted out of line from a weird bit of wrestling with a friend in Vermont – and when Moe jumped up on the bed I glanced his way and he looked like he’d been hit by one of those beams of brilliant white light and was glowing whitely in the dark. And then I had the serial dreams along the theme of correcting messed-with time lines. I’m not sure exactly what the complete message that those dreams brought me or might have been supposed to bring me – was – but I’m not sure that the complete and clear message didn’t sink in below the surface of my ‘conscious’ mind, either.

— shrug — Enough for now? –, It’s 10:32 am – I’ve been distracted by pets and stuff –

Sunday – Spring has Sprung ? & Our Friend Told me to Shrink the Photos so they don’t blow up the system? I shouldda known that.

The First Day Of Spring Is Here – & It Looks Just Like Yesterday – (almost)

& Below has been copied and pasted. [ —jda— ‘shrunk’ the photos that were giving me yesterday’s problems – Now I feel stupid, I shouldda remembered that – oops – ]

— & I fell asleep watching the news last evening, and woke up feeling better about the possibility that the people of this world just might not blow each other up before some magic happens to make everybody realize they like it here and we don’t have to destroy this planet because ice-hole president of some oil company or fracking concern tells us we have to to line his pockets, not heat our homes or ‘fuel’ our economy.

— & Next Sunday is the 100th anniversary of the Irish Easter Rebellion – the Irish got sick of waiting for the British and their philosphy – that amounted to Economic Slavery for everybody concerned – to fall apart and let us be free again. [ Schnarr Britts – ] 😉

— Sunday, March 20th, 2016  — //  -2˚C / +27˚F in brilliant sunlight reflected on very white snow at 12:06 pm in Atlantic Canada — // — I believe today is Dona ( née Flynn ) from my hippy days in Brattleboro’s birthday —

Jim & Cathi's vehicles at sunrise Friday march 19th, 2016

One of Jim W.’s photos that he couldn’t load yesterday, I reduced the size from 3,000 + by 2,000 odd pixels to 1024 b less than 768 and it looks like ‘No Problem at all” here – I also painted the license plate blank for ya, Jim – —jda—

— Yup, looks good to me –

Jim & Cathi's Eastern facing yard at sun-up.

— Jim & Cathi’s House, Jassper’s ‘dog run’ – Funny – Jim calls this the ‘Front Yard’ because it faces Canada Street and that’s the face most people see – Cathi calls it their ‘back yard’ because they come in the door on the other side of the house. I don’t know, If that’s really the biggest disagreement these two have, I’d say they have an amazingly good relationship. —jda—

— Jim & Cathi’s East Side Yard At Sun-Up.

West side of house with bell and deer feeding on the hill.

— This is the second of two photos Jim took Friday Morning, of the Deer and the Hill they feed on, he had to take this from a distance, and if his cell’s phone has a telephoto function, somebody should tell him how to use it. 😉 – I would have cropped this photo closer in and used it instead of the one he started yesterday’s post off with. —jda—

— Today dawned almost as picturesquely as yesterday –

Cropped Deer on the hill photo #2 from Friday.

— To prove a point, silly me, I cropped the photo from directly above this cropped version – Jim’s 2nd “Deer on the hill with great backlighting” photo – and did not reduce the size / number of pixels – The deer are so far to the left you can almost miss them in their lower corner there – Reminds me of Taoist Chinese Art – where the scenery is huge and the people are tiny? – And loading this photo did take so long at 2308 x 1766 pixels that I thought it just might crash WordPress’ interior workings. But it didn’t and it’s here, and I’m glad. —jda—

— yup, magic happens, isn’t it great when things work out better than you expect them to?

—jda—

Saturday – Sunrise – Committee Breakfast —

Committee breakfast.

I went outside to photograph the sunrise after I brought a little bit of oats out to the Deer Hill, and was surprised to see a family of deer already there having breakfast – Then I tried to change the settings on the sizes of the photos & ‘Media’ for this WordPress Blog and it seems to want to over-ride my changes. Grrrrr- But anyway, This is a cropped photo with the deer and the wild backlighting in effect. I’ll try to load this at full size and see what it says.

— Saturday, March 19th, 2016 —  //  -10˚C / +14˚F & Clear & quite bright out there at 9:00 am Atlantic Daylight Savings Time — I think today is my grammar school friend, Donald Hanichek’s Birthday. I could have the spelling wrong – and the last time I bumped into him we were in our twenties and both shopping at an art supply store where my friend, Kim, worked. I think Don was picking up art supplies for the place where he worked, and he pointed at me, smiled and said, “This is what I like about living here-” (bumping into childhood friends) —

— This week’s Media News included a bit on how consumers brought a complaint to the CRTC (Canadian Radio & Television Commission? — expanded to include cable and satellite etc. ? ) About the way Cable ‘Provider’s are handling things. The CRTC ordered cable companies to provide a cheap, stripped down ‘basic’ package that had to include the major Canadian Networks and possibly a couple US networks — I’m not 1,000 % ‘up’ on the details – But – They were also supposed to ‘provide’ single channel options, and not just offer channels inside ‘Bundles’ that a lot of people were complaining contain a bunch of channels they never watch and have no desire to pay for.  & Now it seems that the cable ‘providers’ – “jacked” the price of all the single channels they offer – up as high as they could get away with – and people are complaining now that it would cost them more to get just the few channels they want than all the channels they didn’t want before.

— & Now, Yesterday, Our local CBC Morning News Program reported that a new complaint has come to the CRTC regarding one of the major Media Providers and the way they charge for Cell Phone ‘service’ – They made it very easy for anyone on a family’s plan, including the minor children, to go past the ‘Data Transfer’ limits on their family plan – As in Testing and connecting to radio and YouTube NetFlix and stuff like that. The woman who brought this one complaint in question to the CBC reporters discovered that her minor son was able to go to a ‘screen’ where the warning “You are about to exceed the monthly Data Transfer Limit associated with your family plan – If you wish to continue receiving the program you are attempting to connect to you must verify that you will pay for the additional Data transferred. Do you wish to continue? If So Type “Yes” – ” The woman got her bill for that month, opened it and nearly fell down. The additional data transfer the company said she owed amounted to over $1,700.00 Canadian. After she complained to the CRTC the Cell Phone ‘Service’ was ordered to pay most of that back to her. The reporter told us that some complaints reported much higher amounts the ‘provider’ claimed the consumer owed, whether a minor child or the actual bill payer ‘okayed’ the extra data transfer or whatever –

— The CBC reporter identified the company in this case as ‘Rogers’ who may now own the iconic tower in ‘Downtown Toronto’ and might even own the Toronto Blue Jays. I could be wrong on this point. But anyway. The love of my life had a family plan with Rogers and needed to watch her bills extremely closely because the company tried to bill her in accordance to one plan after numerous long phone calls complaining and explaining that she had the plan that allowed her teenaged daughter either unlimited or close to unlimited data transfer every month while holding the rest of us, who didn’t text much, or in my case, not at all –  And every month they tried to tell her that that was not the plan she had and every month she fought and argued and said, “Yes it was the plan she agreed to-” And they would get those details correct and the company representative would say that ‘these are your contract’s terms’ – and read her what she wanted to hear, and then the very next month the bill would come in as if those conversations/complaints had never happened. She was close to tears every month over this nonsense. It seemed ver much like the company had a policy of: “Charge them whatever we freakin feel like charging them – and threaten them with legal action for breach of contract if they don’t pay our version of this- and to hell with what they think they want or what they think they agreed to-” And then they made their customers service complaints so contentious and maddening that they hoped their ‘treasured customers’ would just shut up and pay whatever was on their bills.

— Schnarr! —

And Now back to pretty pictures:

Deer blending in on the hill.

— “Wide Shot” of the deer that surprised me this morning – Here they began to run away as I was walking up close to where I had just stood and tossed cups full of oats up to ‘their spot’ on the hill.

— Okay, this blog doesn’t like full sized photos, let me publish what I have here and see how it comes out and maybe edit some more later.

—  Schnarr –.

Welcome To Atlantic Daylight Saving Time

Young deer

– 10:00 am Atlantic Daylight Savings Time – I think this is the new guy – The lone deer who acted like he or she was starving last week. (The one who stayed there and hungrily ate oats while I was clearing the snow off the van so Cathi could go to work & With a Crow complaining vociferously the whole time – squawking that he thought it was his time to get at the oats.)

— Monday. March 14th, 2016 — // -1˚C / +30˚F – with cool fresh air and bright sunshine at 10:42 am Atlantic Daylight Saving Time. // I think either today or yesterday is Dana Delaney’s birthday (The actress who played Colleen McMurphy on China Beach). —

— Yesterday I was impressed by how sweet and fresh the air smelled, blowing cool and sometime sounding a bit rogue and over-zealous. The wind blew a fairy heavy plywood surfaced pallet over, after it had knocked a plastic snow shovel down-

— This morning, as I was taking the garbage can out to the edge of the driveway, where it had been light already at 7:00 am on Saturday, it was still dark. I glanced down the hill to where our side street meets Canada Street, in time to see a bus pull to a stop and open its doors for a passenger who was standing there waiting for that. I was taken by the fact that it looked like such a relaxed bit of life, a bit of background colour from a movie that you would expect to be a happy romantic comedy after seeing that slice of life for an opening scene.

— This was after I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been communicating with an Angelic or Divine Personality Who had responded to my worries about Donald Trump giving license to angry bigots to act out their racist, almost neo-fascist attitudes in public — by assuring me that a critical number of people are beginning to realize that they don’t want the cut-throat competition and constant anxiety of being divided and conquered by those who have become deluded into believing they have a right to manipulate large numbers of the populace into the atmosphere of constant anxiety and fear.

— Maybe I should just have said that I woke up feeling like I had been assured that the social-political climate will become more about cooperation and friendly interaction than competition and anxiety over false claims that our resources are becoming depleted by the unemployed, lazy welfare recipients,  or foreigners/illegal aliens ‘taking our jobs away from us’. The days of rabid ‘Trumpish’ nationalism are soon to be over.

— Then this morning on CBC radio, there was a report about a trend in Vancouver, BC, where Real Estate prices are insanely high, and rent is just as astronomically over priced. A growing movement among the ‘millennials’ is communal living, Advertising ‘living space’ accompanied by descriptions of the type of community the people who already live in a particular building are trying to foster. They also said they were different from the ‘Hippy Communes’ of their grandparents [ gulp ] because they wanted to go somewhere in life, { implying that they do not want to just ‘drop out’ and try to spend their lives getting high on sex and drugs and rock and roll? }

— Then there was another segment on another CBC morning news program in which one guy was arguing that it’s time to get rid of the 8 months of Daylight Savings Time. He said the benefits of this system are only going to shop owners and most of them are the corporate mega stores. (?)

— And then somebody interviewed a Hollywood watch-dog / historic trend follower who listed several movies in which Hollywood seemed to be trying to warn their audiences that there was a real danger that the cult of personality was leading everybody down the slippery slope to fascism with Narcissistic Charismatic Leaders trying to run everybody lives. And when the interviewer asked, the historian said ‘there’s a little bit of Donald Trump in every one of those [bad guys].’ It was odd to hear them lump ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ in with ‘7 Days in May’ and ‘Meet John Doe’ and a couple other less well-known movies where, for instance media personalities were reaching for political power and, in one case asking, “So how do I get all those monkeys to vote for me?” —

— Yeah, I want to believe that things are getting better. And I wonder why I woke up so sure that this is exactly what will happen.

— hopefully yours –,

Saturday, Committee Presence, Photos Before Dawn & “Moe-“

Pre dawn sky with orbs.

I felt compelled to make sure the deer had oats this morning, so at about 6 am I went out with my pail and five scoops of whole oats and tossed the oats in several smaller scoops to their spot. But the pre-dawn colours and lighting effects were amazing, and I actually had my camera in my pocket. Of course, you never get what you see when you take the photo. But sometimes what you get is pretty close, and sometimes it comes with surprises- The flash was ‘on’ when I took this shot, and captured several orbs looking like they just might be odd moons rising. Or maybe they’re orb creatures coming to check up on what the heck I’ve been up to lately?

– Early Morning Musings? –

— Saturday, March 12, 2016 — // -3˚C / +26˚F @ 8:31 am under cloudy grey skies with small ‘ground squirrels’ running around inside the dog’s area – which really isn’t very bright- ya know? in Atlantic Canada (or anywhere else – for that matter) — // Larry Thomases’ Birthday.

—  & Hey! — I got the photo captions  fixed so my long wordy captions are now left justified — ( Ignore the paragraph that complains about them being centered 🙂 )

White deer checking me out as I aim the camera.

The white deer was here around 6:30 am, with one other friend. Yesterday, around 7:20 – the whole gang was in attendance, and a couple of the motherly types were kicking the white deer around and driving her away to make sure their yearlings got the most of the oats that were there. I wanted to go out and give the white deer her own abundance of warm fresh oats (warm from being inside the porch, not cooked) But I just stood there and watched her glumly and stiffly walk away. If she is the same white deer we saw last year and the year before, she had a mottled white and brown yearling that must have been the white deer that was reportedly hit by a bus and killed last winter, 2015 – 🙁

— Another thing that happened yesterday, well, we had about half an inch of snow that had started out wet and froze to a weird hardness that was not easy to brush and scrape from the van so Cathi could drive to work free from the anxiety that chunks of hard snow might fly from her roof and hurt somebody or smash their windshield – and the whole time I was struggling with the brush and scraper one youngish deer that I thought was a new guy, who’d either come alone or was so freakin hungry that he or she stayed after the others ran away and ‘he’ kept on eating and scratching for any oats that just might be beneath the snow – I told Cathi about him, and said he must be starving, then told her I thought I would bring him out a cup full of fresh breakfast oats – and she said, “Well, if he lets you get near him -” And I reiterated, “I think he’s starving -” and I went out with a cup full of oats and he took a couple steps away and prepared to dash away toward safety – I tried to tell him in a nice calm voice, “Hey, don’t go too far away – and showed him what I had and tossed it while he eyed me warily – Then I tried to bow, or dip my head slightly, which is something I’ve seen the deer doing, and we’ve been anthropomorphizing that that’s the way they say ‘Thank you-‘ He just looked at me like that was weird and came back and was gobbling up the new warmish oats before I took ten steps toward the house.

Approaching sunrise.

Okay, this was probably five minutes after the first photo at the top of this article here – What I saw was something more like nicotine coloured sky just above the horizon, but it came out reddish purple here. It’s still striking, but it isn’t quite what I saw –

— I gotta try to change the setting in the ‘editor’ here to see if I can get the captions to left justify. Me – getting typically over wordy here –  it looks bad and I think it might be hard for some people to read the center justified captions. & Sometimes I think I’d have to be grossly over-confident if I thought that anybody out there would want to read any thing I post here.

Colourful sky minutes before sunrise.

– And this was maybe twenty minutes to half an hour after the first shots. It came out a little closer to reality, and then I did a little tweaking in photoshop (not the heavy duty really creative stuff you need special plug-ins for) But this really caught the feeling –

— Was it yesterday I spent a couple of paragraphs describing Moe’s linguistic peculiarities? — I couldn’t avoid posting a photo I took of him between a couple of his lectures on how not to neglect the cat if you know what’s good for you —

Moe -

And here he is – hoping that I’m not about to blind him with the flash he knows can come out of the thing that I’m holding so close to him – And why I’d hold anything that wasn’t edible that close to a cat will probably forever remain a mystery – ( “And why does that thing make noises like “Ka-jickk” either when it blinds you with light or doesn’t – I like this human, but jeeze – there’s no way a reasonable cat can understand these peculiar characters, -And why the Creator gave them opposable thumbs and not us? – Well I’ll be charitable, and say that must have been an oversight, probably an operation delegated to underlings on the animal design assembly line -” )

— Enough damage for one day? Am I stealing somebody else’s line here?

Tuesday – “Mars” Day?

Pretty bit of glass with a swirl/pinwheel effect near the middle.

Looking at life through a swirling rainbow? We bought this hanging bit of colour from the Glass Blower / Teacher who gave us a weekend course in glass blowing –

— Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 — // — +3˚C / +38˚F with brilliant sunlight and clear cool fresh air in Atlantic Canada @ 10:30 am —

— The Sufis talk about people who look at life through veils – If you see yourself as a sinner, or look at life as a dark, sinister path through suffering toward an unpleasant end – You’re looking at life through a black veil – If you believe you’re a saint, and that God appointed you to be His (or Her) Judge and/or Representative on Earth –  You’re looking at life through a white veil. The trick is to remove all the veils and look at life as it really is, without straining it through your ego.

— E.G.O. – some other group came up with the ‘explanation’ that E.G.O. = Edging Got Out = looking at life as if you should be in charge and everyone around you should acknowledge the ‘fact’ that you know how everything should be and they bloody well ought to make sure you got everything your way.

— Ego?  The best definition of ‘ego’ that I ever received came from Yogis: – Ego is the Divine Spirit duped into believing it is totally dependent on this one body you are currently inhabiting there.

— Back to the Sufis – They would call delusion “Wrong Crystallization” – You’ve got all your time and energy invested in experiencing life based on illusion and delusion – Whatever Illusion and Delusion you are currently invested in. & They say that the only way to get over Wrong Crystallization is through suffering. { – disillusionment – }

— I didn’t start out today thinking I’d sit here and define stuff like this. I started out thinking about the current political insanity going on in this world. European Governments calling Refugees ‘Economic Immigrants’ so they can avoid believing they should open their borders and hearts and Act like Good Christians, the way Christ told them they should act. When you’re afraid the needy will need everything you believe should be yours, You’re not going to act like a good Christian, are you? Fear and anxiety are products of the ego. There are Divine Laws in effect that will create more abundance than you can possibly consume if you are willing to share anything you have with those who really need it.

— You might notice that I didn’t call Donald Trump the Anti-Christ – But somebody who tries to capitalize on fear and anxiety in order to gain or keep power would probably be aligned with an Anti-Christ. Trump might be a Lieutenant or even a General in the Anti-Christs’ latest campaign. But, of course, that statement would be pure opinion and you should never take my opinion on anything for any kind of ‘Gospel Truth’ to base your life upon, or bet your soul against. – Think for yourself, come up with your own opinions, and be ready to drop those opinions any time you realize they’re not quite good enough to hang on to – they may have gotten you here, but is “here” where you want to stay?

— No, I was thinking about world politics and US politics this morning and wondering how the bleep we can avoid the mistakes of the past and move forward and upward toward a life that’s really worth living – Something ‘New’ to most of us? Living beyond yesterday’s limitations? Not mired down by yesterday’s illusions, delusions and stuff like that? Haven’t we had enough b.s. running our lives in the past?

— Sigh, did I get up from the wrong side of bed this morning? or the correct side?

— On the bright side, Cathi noticed the committee breakfast going on outside our porch windows this morning as she got ready for work. We counted possibly 4 young deer (yearlings?) and at least two adults. & There are almost always other adults hanging back toward the trees, acting as lookouts –

— And at 9 am there was another young deer there, enjoying the oats we put out for them – Thinking that maybe if we do this, they won’t be chewing up anybody’s gardens or getting themselves on the wrong side of any local farmers. Maybe I’m a little too optimistic there. But I like the look of appreciation I get from a mother deer while she sees her fawns eating something healthy – We even see the deer kind of bowing to us in acknowledgement now and then – at least – that’s what it looks like they’re doing – saying, ‘Thank you-‘

— shrug – of course, I could be reading all kinds of things into everything I see and think about that really aren’t there. { & that’s the kind of thinking that Donald J Trump believes is weakness. – & I wonder what God thinks – }

— Enough philosophy for one morning?

Return of the Committee :) —

Monday. December 14, 2015 -( 0˚C / 32˚F — Grey and Damp and Threatening Rain, Snow, Ice Pellets and Freezing rain @ 9:00 am in Atlantic Canada )-

Committee Breakfast, December 14th, 2015.

They’re back! This morning at about 8:30 am, half a dozen deer showed up – quite skittish – but hungry enough to stick around within sight as I tossed several scoops of oats out on the top of the hill where they’ve come to expect yummy stuff, and let me know they appreciate our efforts.

We’ve been worried about the deer who have been making it through our last couple very tough winters by taking the chance that a couple houses full of humans would be sharing good food and not shooting and eating them [ which is illegal within city limits here ] The declining number of deer in this province has been making the news lately.

Cropped Closeup of Christmas Cactus - December 12, 2015

Saturday morning/ early afternoon – brilliant sunlight played on the ‘Christmas Cactus’ plant on our entry porch in Cathi’s ‘Zen Corner’. I took a couple photos with the macro setting active and got better results than I thought I did.

One view of the woodshed.

Sunday – After our quick trip to the Northside Market we quickly finished up the framing and covered our Wood Shed- hopefully strengthened enough to survive this winter better than last year’s efforts held up under a whole lot of snow- which split the two by two uprights we used as part of the kit that came with plastic ‘hardware’ and instructions. Our neighbour gave us the strong white tarp that did survive last winter. We have more to do here, but I think we’re off to a decent start with last night’s efforts.

Yesterday, Sunday – Cathi and I had a busy day, zooming off to the North Side Market, where we picked up a four pound chicken for dinner and discovered a ‘gourmet grilled cheese’ kiosk in the food court. Yum- When we got home we had to hurry to finish reinforcing the frame to our woodshed, which is growing around the steel shed we put up in the autumn of 2013. Today, Monday the 14th – we expect a messy mixture of Snow ( 5 cm) rain (possibly 39 mm) Freezing Rain and ‘ice pellets’/sleet (which might amount to a millimeter or so of dangerous slippery stuff -)

Cathi with the leaf rake.

“21st Century Canadian Gothic” – After we finished the Woodshed’s frame enough to be reasonably sure it would support the coming snow & mixed precipitation – and then got several pallets (some to burn, others to hammer into the frame to reinforce the woodshed) under cover – Cathi tried not to freeze her fingers while she raked a protective layer of fallen oak leaves over onto her vegetable garden. I moved our hand tools back inside the porch and grabbed the camera, took these last two photographs here, happily caught Cathi grinning with the sense that we actually did get much more accomplished than we thought was possible as darkness quickly descended on Atlantic Canada.

And so, even though the dog got out and wanted very badly to play with us while we were knocking ourselves out, and, after I caught him by the collar, made a very squirrel like move and pulled me down hard to the ground, which felt for an hour or so like I’d be in pain for a month or so, but did get better when I heated one of our bean bag hot and cold thingamajigs and sat against the heat while watching “The Librarians” on the Space Channel — I’m really happy the deer are still around, we hadn’t seen any more than two fairly young ones who’d come around on a couple early mornings almost a month ago. And now it looks like there is more of a “Committee” presence than we thought might have survived the summer and late autumn when we heard people out in the woods cutting what may have been trees that fell during storms and burning twigs in a bonfire- And Cathi had the awful feeling that she’d heard gunfire back there, which, as I ‘hinted’ above is extremely illegal within city limits here.

— Yay! –,
