Tiger Spiders
Tiger Spiders may be a sub-species of Sectoids.
Sectoids claim they are not related and Tiger Spiders are only too happy to support that theory.
Sectoids have been engaged in a war of genocide against Tiger Spiders as far back as Tiger Spider History goes. Through cunning, skill and vigilance they are coming back from near extinction.
It is believed that Tiger Spiders realized that, if they were to survive, they would have to form alliances with the other sentient races of this world. It is believed that they studied other races secretly for years, learned their languages, taught each other to recognize body language, facial expressions, nuances, cultural gestures, and tons of the things that members of most other races take for granted. When they were comfortably sure that they understood other races, they picked and chose the time and circumstances to make their presence known.
Tiger Spiders are generally more intelligent than Sectoids. They are also able to study, teach and use Magic (Sectoids cannot); and develop their Psi potential.
This Race (or Species) seems to have remained Racially Pure (whereas many Sectoids appear to be Semi-Elf, Semi-Human, or Semi-Ghardra), none have ever been known to have any Semi-Mammalian features.
They often seem "guardedly friendly" toward other races. Those who can communicate with ESP have told us that they all know the future of their race depends on forming alliances with any and all enemies of the Sectoids.
Appearance: 1-5 foot tall Spiders, all with yellow and black striped legs. Tiger Spiders never have wings.
Colouring: Yellow and Black striped legs (with a gloss that almost looks metallic in some lighting) Black and Yellow bodies (with spots or stripes or solid colors).
Their Eyes are usually: Red, Black, Silver, White or Amber
Any "Hair" they might have is usually: Black, silver, or White
They enjoy the same Advantages that Sectoids do (except flight).
Disadvantages include being mistaken for Sectoids, Being hunted by Sectoids, and the difficulty they have with communicating with those outside their race. (They can, however, understand many languages.)
Occupations : include Magic (Orthodox or Unorthodox) (Most Magickers can also Teach Magic to others) Clerics, Healers and Questors, Most Military Professions, Weaponsmiths, Armorers, Jewelers. Bards are rare and they rarely call themselves 'Rangers'. Some can develop Psidahrian powers, usually as a Secondary Occupation.
Alignment
While alignment is not enforced on characters, we do feel it adds depth and enriches everyone's experience if players understand their characters as thoroghly as possible. With this in mind, please visit our Alignment and Ethics page.
