Saturday, Committee Presence, Photos Before Dawn & “Moe-“

Pre dawn sky with orbs.
I felt compelled to make sure the deer had oats this morning, so at about 6 am I went out with my pail and five scoops of whole oats and tossed the oats in several smaller scoops to their spot. But the pre-dawn colours and lighting effects were amazing, and I actually had my camera in my pocket. Of course, you never get what you see when you take the photo. But sometimes what you get is pretty close, and sometimes it comes with surprises- The flash was ‘on’ when I took this shot, and captured several orbs looking like they just might be odd moons rising. Or maybe they’re orb creatures coming to check up on what the heck I’ve been up to lately?

– Early Morning Musings? –

— Saturday, March 12, 2016 — // -3˚C / +26˚F @ 8:31 am under cloudy grey skies with small ‘ground squirrels’ running around inside the dog’s area – which really isn’t very bright- ya know? in Atlantic Canada (or anywhere else – for that matter) — // Larry Thomases’ Birthday.

—  & Hey! — I got the photo captions  fixed so my long wordy captions are now left justified — ( Ignore the paragraph that complains about them being centered 🙂 )

White deer checking me out as I aim the camera.
The white deer was here around 6:30 am, with one other friend. Yesterday, around 7:20 – the whole gang was in attendance, and a couple of the motherly types were kicking the white deer around and driving her away to make sure their yearlings got the most of the oats that were there. I wanted to go out and give the white deer her own abundance of warm fresh oats (warm from being inside the porch, not cooked) But I just stood there and watched her glumly and stiffly walk away. If she is the same white deer we saw last year and the year before, she had a mottled white and brown yearling that must have been the white deer that was reportedly hit by a bus and killed last winter, 2015 – 🙁

— Another thing that happened yesterday, well, we had about half an inch of snow that had started out wet and froze to a weird hardness that was not easy to brush and scrape from the van so Cathi could drive to work free from the anxiety that chunks of hard snow might fly from her roof and hurt somebody or smash their windshield – and the whole time I was struggling with the brush and scraper one youngish deer that I thought was a new guy, who’d either come alone or was so freakin hungry that he or she stayed after the others ran away and ‘he’ kept on eating and scratching for any oats that just might be beneath the snow – I told Cathi about him, and said he must be starving, then told her I thought I would bring him out a cup full of fresh breakfast oats – and she said, “Well, if he lets you get near him -” And I reiterated, “I think he’s starving -” and I went out with a cup full of oats and he took a couple steps away and prepared to dash away toward safety – I tried to tell him in a nice calm voice, “Hey, don’t go too far away – and showed him what I had and tossed it while he eyed me warily – Then I tried to bow, or dip my head slightly, which is something I’ve seen the deer doing, and we’ve been anthropomorphizing that that’s the way they say ‘Thank you-‘ He just looked at me like that was weird and came back and was gobbling up the new warmish oats before I took ten steps toward the house.

Approaching sunrise.
Okay, this was probably five minutes after the first photo at the top of this article here – What I saw was something more like nicotine coloured sky just above the horizon, but it came out reddish purple here. It’s still striking, but it isn’t quite what I saw –

— I gotta try to change the setting in the ‘editor’ here to see if I can get the captions to left justify. Me – getting typically over wordy here –  it looks bad and I think it might be hard for some people to read the center justified captions. & Sometimes I think I’d have to be grossly over-confident if I thought that anybody out there would want to read any thing I post here.

Colourful sky minutes before sunrise.
– And this was maybe twenty minutes to half an hour after the first shots. It came out a little closer to reality, and then I did a little tweaking in photoshop (not the heavy duty really creative stuff you need special plug-ins for) But this really caught the feeling –

— Was it yesterday I spent a couple of paragraphs describing Moe’s linguistic peculiarities? — I couldn’t avoid posting a photo I took of him between a couple of his lectures on how not to neglect the cat if you know what’s good for you —

Moe -
And here he is – hoping that I’m not about to blind him with the flash he knows can come out of the thing that I’m holding so close to him – And why I’d hold anything that wasn’t edible that close to a cat will probably forever remain a mystery – ( “And why does that thing make noises like “Ka-jickk” either when it blinds you with light or doesn’t – I like this human, but jeeze – there’s no way a reasonable cat can understand these peculiar characters, -And why the Creator gave them opposable thumbs and not us? – Well I’ll be charitable, and say that must have been an oversight, probably an operation delegated to underlings on the animal design assembly line -” )

— Enough damage for one day? Am I stealing somebody else’s line here?

Thursday, How Many of You Ever Heard of “Mario Day”? -{MAR10}-?

Moe Chillin' half under blankets on the bed.
“Moe Chillin'” It wasn’t that cold a day in here – But I found Moe ‘Chillin’ half under a couple blankets on the bed. The camera blinded him when I tried to get him smiling at me, so I settled for a shot of him pretending to ignore me while he licked his paw and enjoyed life.

— Thursday, March 10th, 2016 — // — +3˚C / +37˚F — Grey, Damp and soggy out there @ about 3:33 pm – The Temperature’s been falling from a high of +6˚C @ 6:00 am here in Atlantic Canada —

— Mario Day —

I never heard of that before I worked with a guy named Mario who was quite literate and had a friendly, dry sense of humour – working in the post office, you needed to be able to laugh or you’d go nuts – Anyway – He told us a story about how he learned about Mario Day – Somebody say Mar 10 on a computer where the letters and numbers were run together and asked, “Why is this thing spelling out Mario on its screen like that?” and a wize guy named Mario answered, “- Because it’s Mario Day! -” MAR10, Mario day –

Photo looking down at the wet and the snow and ice and wood chips in our driveway.
This was our driveway at about 10 after 2 pm today, I tried to get some ‘Artsy shots’ of the ice and water and sharp flat gravel, but nothing came out really great, so – here we have a little bit of wood chips, a bit of the soggy lower extremities of boards on a nice looking pallet that either Cathi or I will want to do something artistic or otherwise clever with – And a hint of the porch in the background, and this actually captured the look and feel of the snow-ice-puddle mix that is our driveway today.

— The Cell phone camera takes such nice and detailed shots that I thought I might be able to get a photo of the leaves and water and ice and snow that looks like something from the cover of a photography magazine. But the sky was a bit too bright or something, none of the shots came out looking like what I saw in my ‘mind’s eye’ when I aimed and fired.

Driveway, melting snow, grey sky, house, jeep -
And this shot, cropped and ‘shrunk down’ from ten mega pixels – took three times to load – I kept getting ‘http error’ messages. This is the grey day with the wet driveway and the melting snow that looks kind of gloomy unless you’ve had enough winter, like most people around here, especially those who lived through the last two winters, and sent a lotta prayers toward the sky along the lines of, “Gimme a break!” 🙂

— And, since yesterday’s weird dreams or psychic stuff, funny things have been happening with the pets and the computers here. The Samsung Galaxy II is ‘Quirky’ at best about connecting with the computer, it keeps trying to tell me that I shouldn’t disconnect when I’m trying to download photos. Today it was really nuts, it disconnected half a dozen times and then refused to show up when it was reconnected – I finally shut down the whole computer and pulled the USB cable, started up and reconnected and maybe I got lucky. On top of that, the USB keyboard has ‘gone missing’ several times in the past twenty four hours. It’s still there, it’s still connected, the roller ball mouse that is connected through the keyboard still works, no problem – but when I type, nothing happens, no letters appear, the return and enter keys don’t work – I’ve had to pull the USB cable and plug it back in something like three times in the past twenty four hours.

— & Yes – the pets are stranger than usual, and we have pets that we have to ask, “Hey, if they start acting unusually, how will we know?” – They’re already strange – The hundred and twenty-five pound Labrador Retriever wants to dance with me when the music’s right – He wants to do a strange imitation of a Kangaroo hop with instructions from the sound track of the Rocky Horror Picture show – with a whole lot more jumping from side to side and very happy over-energetic grinning involved. And the Cat? The cat has his own language that is so varied and so complicated – I wonder if he really is a normal Earth-Cat, or was he dropped off at the Ottawa animal shelter by somebody piloting a U.F.O. – disguised as a car – the shelter people saw somebody park, run up to the porch, put the cat down and run away. And after several years with this guy, Yup, he could very well be a spy from some extraordinarily intelligent race of cats, or shape-shifters who like rambling around dressed up like a feline quadruped muttering “Maereh Raireh!” and, “Arra mong-muh!” and, “m’gaaa – M’guhrr!”

— He’s off in the hallway right now, moaning “Aou – mah! Muhh- muh Ma-ou Murr mun mung muh! Maoo Arr ruh! [sneeze] Maaoooou maou-” which probably means, “I really need some cat treats right about now, you haven’t done anything nice to me in over two hours!”

— And all I can say about that is, “Mahgga rung ruh -”

Yesterday’s Raccoon News In Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia?

Zen Corner through glass and plastic
“Zen Corner Through Glass And Plastic” – This photo was taken at about 9 am this morning through a porch window and its interior plastic shield – using a Samsung Galaxy II phone – not my usual Olympus Camera. —jim w—

— Tuesday Evening, March 8th, 2016 — // — Dark and -1˚C / +30˚F @ 7:45 pm in Atlantic Canada —

— I guess you can tell you live in a ‘Civilized’ area when last night’s Television News included the following:

— Tonight a Woman in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia went to her Compost Bin and it Growled at Her —

— The culprit was a young and scruffy looking raccoon.

— I tried to find a photo of the scruffy young raccoon in the green plastic recycling bin via Twitter and became severely distracted by too much positive reinforcement going around – like:

Steve Jobs quoted.
I used to think Steve Jobs was a guy with a nasty temper who made fun of virgins and went to Apple Board Meetings barefoot and snarled at everybody. That’s the way he was portrayed in a teevee movie about the computer revolution – Just recently I discovered that he was a follower of Paramahansa Yogananda – a Yogi who gave away copies of “Autobiography of a Yogi” – Or did I just come here from a parallel world that’s not quite as positive as this place?
Michael Moore's ballot - he voted for Bernie Sanders.
Michael Moore voted for Bernie Sanders in a primary – Sounds good to me.

— There is way too much positive stuff in the ‘Tweet-Us-Sphere’ tonight. Most of it concerns women’s safety and equality – with a hashtag #InternationalWomensDay –

The Granddaughters of Witches who survived the burning times.
“We are the [Daughters and] Granddaughters of Witches You Couldn’t Burn”
Woman Protesting inequal wages.
PG Rated Message? 72% of equal wages for equal work might warrant a frustrated cuss word or two – & not everyone know how to say “Schnarr!”
Positive Quote
Nice, Positive Quote? — Unless you’ve been messed with to the point where you can’t stand anybody suggesting you should see the world their way, positive or not – But, hey, I got over that attitude years ago. 🙂

— And I left a lot of stuff out. There’s not enough room here to fill with all the good stuff on the internet tonight. Now that’s different –

Tuesday – “Mars” Day?

Pretty bit of glass with a swirl/pinwheel effect near the middle.
Looking at life through a swirling rainbow? We bought this hanging bit of colour from the Glass Blower / Teacher who gave us a weekend course in glass blowing –

— Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 — // — +3˚C / +38˚F with brilliant sunlight and clear cool fresh air in Atlantic Canada @ 10:30 am —

— The Sufis talk about people who look at life through veils – If you see yourself as a sinner, or look at life as a dark, sinister path through suffering toward an unpleasant end – You’re looking at life through a black veil – If you believe you’re a saint, and that God appointed you to be His (or Her) Judge and/or Representative on Earth –  You’re looking at life through a white veil. The trick is to remove all the veils and look at life as it really is, without straining it through your ego.

— E.G.O. – some other group came up with the ‘explanation’ that E.G.O. = Edging Got Out = looking at life as if you should be in charge and everyone around you should acknowledge the ‘fact’ that you know how everything should be and they bloody well ought to make sure you got everything your way.

— Ego?  The best definition of ‘ego’ that I ever received came from Yogis: – Ego is the Divine Spirit duped into believing it is totally dependent on this one body you are currently inhabiting there.

— Back to the Sufis – They would call delusion “Wrong Crystallization” – You’ve got all your time and energy invested in experiencing life based on illusion and delusion – Whatever Illusion and Delusion you are currently invested in. & They say that the only way to get over Wrong Crystallization is through suffering. { – disillusionment – }

— I didn’t start out today thinking I’d sit here and define stuff like this. I started out thinking about the current political insanity going on in this world. European Governments calling Refugees ‘Economic Immigrants’ so they can avoid believing they should open their borders and hearts and Act like Good Christians, the way Christ told them they should act. When you’re afraid the needy will need everything you believe should be yours, You’re not going to act like a good Christian, are you? Fear and anxiety are products of the ego. There are Divine Laws in effect that will create more abundance than you can possibly consume if you are willing to share anything you have with those who really need it.

— You might notice that I didn’t call Donald Trump the Anti-Christ – But somebody who tries to capitalize on fear and anxiety in order to gain or keep power would probably be aligned with an Anti-Christ. Trump might be a Lieutenant or even a General in the Anti-Christs’ latest campaign. But, of course, that statement would be pure opinion and you should never take my opinion on anything for any kind of ‘Gospel Truth’ to base your life upon, or bet your soul against. – Think for yourself, come up with your own opinions, and be ready to drop those opinions any time you realize they’re not quite good enough to hang on to – they may have gotten you here, but is “here” where you want to stay?

— No, I was thinking about world politics and US politics this morning and wondering how the bleep we can avoid the mistakes of the past and move forward and upward toward a life that’s really worth living – Something ‘New’ to most of us? Living beyond yesterday’s limitations? Not mired down by yesterday’s illusions, delusions and stuff like that? Haven’t we had enough b.s. running our lives in the past?

— Sigh, did I get up from the wrong side of bed this morning? or the correct side?

— On the bright side, Cathi noticed the committee breakfast going on outside our porch windows this morning as she got ready for work. We counted possibly 4 young deer (yearlings?) and at least two adults. & There are almost always other adults hanging back toward the trees, acting as lookouts –

— And at 9 am there was another young deer there, enjoying the oats we put out for them – Thinking that maybe if we do this, they won’t be chewing up anybody’s gardens or getting themselves on the wrong side of any local farmers. Maybe I’m a little too optimistic there. But I like the look of appreciation I get from a mother deer while she sees her fawns eating something healthy – We even see the deer kind of bowing to us in acknowledgement now and then – at least – that’s what it looks like they’re doing – saying, ‘Thank you-‘

— shrug – of course, I could be reading all kinds of things into everything I see and think about that really aren’t there. { & that’s the kind of thinking that Donald J Trump believes is weakness. – & I wonder what God thinks – }

— Enough philosophy for one morning?

Monday – A Flurry Of Non-Events?

Stonewall Dusted
We had some flurry activity this afternoon. – A dusting on the stones of the stonewall-

— Monday, March 7th, 2016 — // 0˚C / 32˚F  & Lightly Flurrying In Atlantic Canada @ 5:15 pm // — I think today is exactly six months away from my birthday – might depend on leapyear and stuff like that —

— I really have almost nothing to report – You don’t really want to know about how many trips I made up and down the stairs to do a little bit of laundry – I did add one old poem to the “Aerendel Magazine Archives” page here –  And I took a couple photos of the dog playing in the snow and the dusting everything is getting here.

— Cathi ‘shared’ a definition of ‘Trumpery’ someone posted on ‘effbook’ –  I re-shared that –

— The odd thing is, I suddenly felt a bit of a Spiritual Lift a short time ago – Like something wonderful happened to somebody I know and they wished I was there to experience that with them.

— Therefore, this is not a case of me about to drop dead from boredome. This is me enjoying a happy moment or two when nothing is falling apart or crashing in on us.

— If some of my more sensitive friends were not totally allergic to smiley faces – I just might have added one here.

Sunday – March Is Here and The Time Is Right to — uh — What?

Sunday, March 6th, 2016, — // — Um = +1˚C / +33˚F — Sunny & Bright in Atlantic Canada @ 4:04 pm —

— This time last year we were up to our ‘eyebulbs’ in snow – today a lot of not-quite-green grass is showing all around town – and so are bits of very clear, not so clear, and a little too slippery ice –

— Let’s start with our buddy, Doug’s post from Friday :

Friday – Where did this week go? What happened to February?

Friday, March 4th, 2016 — //  27˚F / -3˚C & cloudy in Ithaca, NY @ 5:30 pm

Trump leading a charge of Elephants being ridden by guys in KKK disguises.
In several ways – this cartoon sums up the main stream media news I’ve been hearing lately.

— After I got home from work this morning I tried to watch the news and after I gave up on that I conked out for several hours, woke up with a headache, took a couple aspirins and went back to bed, now alluva sudden it’s 5:30 pm  and I could almost believe Donald Trump could be leading a charge of stampeding elephants and hell-beant bigots right at my door. Still have that headache, But with one eye open, I can tell there are no stampeding herds of elephants barreling down on me here. I should take another aspirin, or maybe guess I didn’t get enough caffeine and get some coffee and then chill? Where do I go to whine, “Make it go away-” ?

Plank Walk along the bank of a body of very green water.
I don’t know why, but this photo is very appealing right now, maybe if I was -there- the warmth and the relaxed feel of being near that river, or lake, or whatever body of water it might be – would drive the headache away and let me lean back and enjoy life?

— anyway, I have to go ‘chill’ right about now – Have a good evening and a decent weekend —

And this was posted on Thursday – on our buddy’s blog, { “—jdaerendel—” } Using photos I took and emailed :

Looks Like Spring — Feels Like The Deep Freeze —

{ Looks Like Spring – Feels Like The Deep Freeze – }

"Brrrrrr-"
Jim W.’s spouse – Cathi – standing near bank of the wind-whipped St John River – gazing through the bitter cold toward the South Side of Fredericton. — Photo by Jim W. —

— Thursday, 03 March, 2016 — // -10˚C / +14˚F With Bright Sunlight and Bitter Cold Wind in Atlantic Canada @ 4:59 pm //  Ian Punnett’s Birthday :)

— We had a busy early afternoon here in Atlantic Canada — The sun looked warm and the air was clear. But the wind – coming from the South West ahead of a winter storm blowing this way from Ontario and Quebec – was very damp and cold – the kind of cold that cuts right through you –

— I met up with Jim and Cathi and we took a break in the middle of our various tasks and appointments to gaze at the beauty of the river with its very bright reflections – And stepped out of the vehicle to take a couple of photos – But — Brrrrrr! Cathi gave up trying to stand outside and take a video of the wave action causing the built up ice to undulate near the edge of the solidly frozen ice. Jim took a couple of his own photos and ran back to the warmth, grabbed his warm insulated gloves, wore one of them and pulled his right hand up inside the cuff of his jacket so he could push the camera’s shutter button and not watch the fingers freeze and drop off his hand –

Icy River Bank
“This is looking almost due south from the north side here. The sun was so bright and it was so hard to see the viewfinder that I didn’t notice the sunbeam streaking in from above when I took the photo.” — Jim W —

— Yeah, so we got all our stuff done and hurried back home to thaw out and catch up on the news that Mitt Romney is warning his fellow Republicans not to vote for Donald Trump – who he called a Con-Artist and a Fraud. A friend told us that photos of Mr Trump as well as transcripts and excerpts from some of his television spots were used by a Psychology professor to describe the look and characteristics of a “Narcissistic Sociopath”.

— Enough for now –,

—jda—

= = = = =

— And, on the optimistic front – Cathi told me I would like to hear what the guys from the Merlin Project had to say about the Bio-Rhythms of the front running candidates in the mess they’ve been calling the 2016 Electoral Process in the good old U.S. of A. =

— They said that things do not look particularly good for either Hillary or ‘The Donald’ – The Donald might win the nomination, but he might also be sidelined by some kind of back room deal, or “cut off at the pass” by wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. They say his Bio-Rhythms do not look healthy coming up on the real down and dirty nitty-gritty of the Race to the White House.

— Similarly – Hillary’s ‘Time Line’ ‘goes flat’ around the middle of 2016 and doesn’t pick up until the middle of 2017. The Merlin Project guys said there are indications that she might encounter significant health problems or legal problems –  which might knock her out of the race.

— But their real surprise – which caught them completely off guard – was Bernie Sanders — Whether Bernie’s Time Line’s ‘Good Stuff’ puts him in the White House or gets just about everything he’s fighting for accomplished –  they can’t say for certain. But Bernie is the only candidate visible at the moment who looks consistently really good and healthy throughout the campaign and beyond.

— On Other Fronts: “Starfire Tor” { Official Fan Page Link } who has researched and experienced “Time Shifts” and “Inter-Dimensional Phenomena” – says that the US Presidential Candidate who was supposed to win this coming election has been ‘Edited out of our Time Line’ – which, she explained, is why the current Race to the White House is so out of this world Crazy this time. {{ Um – research this one for yourself – I can neither endorse nor deny what she has to say – it’s a bit beyond my level of expertise here – }}

— And, um, then there was my own post, in “Future Archives” — I’m looking for a new name for that blog — But :

Saturday Morning – & We’re Missing Another Weather Bomb –

Saturday, March 5, 2016 — //  -10˚C / +14˚F — overcast and damp in Atlantic Canada @ 7:43 am — // — My Friend Lyn’s Birthday —

Weather Map for Saturday, March 5th, 2016.

This Morning’s Weather Map from the Canadian Weather Network.

Parts of Nova Scotia and a lot of Newfoundland are supposed to be clobbered by a nasty Nor’Easter today, and here, we are just outside the storm’s reach –

I’m pretty happy I won’t have to shovel over a foot of snow [ 30 cm is just about a foot ]
